100 Good Deeds
In the spirit of service, SIS carried out 100 Good Deeds as a tribute to Sri Swami Satchidananda’s centenary in 2014. These included eye operations, artificial limbs for special-needs children, educational sponsorships and scholarships, and donations to projects supporting education and healthcare in developing countries. In total, SIS surpassed this goal and achieved over 220 Good Deeds.
While many of the good deeds performed took place in those countries already listed, one-off acts of kindness were also initiated by team members and caring individuals closer to home. Of particular note is the annual distribution of Christmas hampers to poor families in Spain, Portugal and the UK. In addition, SIS encouraged members of its international Yogic family to nominate those unfortunate people they were aware of in their area to receive some form of support in ‘the spirit of Satchidananda.’
