SIS INDIA - Project head: Swami Lalitananda
Sreejaya is the first person SIS helped with her final year's undergraduate fees back in 2011. She went on to get a post as Asst. Lecturer in a college, but then the laws changed and they required all teachers to have a Master's degree. So she is in the final stages of getting her M.Tech and has been offered a job with Tata Consultancy Services.
India'slargest IT company!
Now her brother has finished his undergraduate degree and has a job with Sriram Transport & Finance Company, another big outfit in India. Her sister is now in her second semester of college and the younger brother is in 8th grade and doing well. So this family is going to end up with at least 3, if not all 4 of their children in college! This extremely poor family struggled with 6 people cramped into a room, the mother was trying to cook in a broken terra cotta vessel. Her father only earned 2500 Rs. a month (about £25) selling lottery tickets. So to see all their children flourishing has made this family extremely happy! And all because SIS gave one girl the opportunity to complete her last year of college. By doing one good deed, it helped so many!
WORLD PEACE DAY 2015
Gibraltar saw it’s first ever World Peace Day organised by the Integral Yoga Centre, featuring guest speakers and music performances.
The celebration was held was to spread the message of peace despite conflicts arising in many areas of life, including conflicts within yourself, or at home, locally in Gibraltar, or even the Middle East migrant crisis.
Although this was the first World Peace Day event held in Gibraltar, organiser and Chairwoman of the Integral Yoga Centre Gibraltar, Nalanie Chellaram said this was the first of many events and hopes to see it become bigger every year.
Speaking to more than 100 guests at the event held in Boyd’s on Monday evening, Mrs Chellaram said: “It’s by being here, by feeling it, we will talk about peace. We want peace, but how do we achieve it? We achieve it by feeling it.
“When you feel peace, you feel joy, and that’s what today is all about. It’s a reminder that we can all achieve peace.”

FASHION SHOW FUNDRAISER FOR NEPAL
The SIS wonderful Charity Fashion Show took place last September 23rd at the Boardwalk restaurant in Marbella. The event aimed to raise funds in aid of Clinic Nepal’s endevaour to build earthquake proof homes in the rural area of Gorkha, Nepal, which had experienced such devastation after the earthquake. The show was organised by the sangha members in Marbella.
The event was a success with over 70 guests attending who enjoyed a lovely english afternoon tea, and a glass of champagne whilst enjoying the show.
The sangha members in Marbella alongside some of the beautiful yoga teachers from Radiant Yoga Marbella, modelled the lovely outfits. The garments were one off pieces, made of beautifully printed indian silk, and were customised with antique hand embroided sari trims. The outfits were created by the fantastic designer and yogi Sue Mariani . She was assisted by Barbara Benet and Adele Mc Cartney who worked lovingly to put the event together.
With the love, hard work and dedication of the team 3,500 euros was raised towards the Gorka housing project !!!
Thank you to everyone that contributed to this worthy cause and thank you to Nalanie Chellaram for supporting us !
