LOTUS Temple, Coimbatore, India |
SIS is very happy to inform you that the Satchidananda Foundation, Coimbatore has plans underway to construct a LOTUS Temple in India. It will be on a smaller scale, in Chettipaylam on the land where Sri Gurudev's birthplace home is located.
The Swami Satchidananda Foundation in India have set a target date for the dedication on the 22nd December 2014 in honour of Gurudev's Centenary Jayanthi.
The Light Of Truth Universal Shrine (LOTUS) is a unique temple dedicated to interfaith understanding and the Light within all faiths. Individual altars represent and honor the different world religions. The vision, design and inspiration of Sri Swami Satchidananda, the LOTUS in Virginia, USA which was dedicated in 1986, now the second LOTUS Temple will be built in Sri Swami Satchidananda's birthplace in India.

On Monday 23 January 2011 SIS visited Udavum Karangal - Help Hands, an inspirational organization that has branches in Chennai and Coimbatore, southern India.
Udavum Karangal (Helping Hands) is a registered, non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit social service organization, established in 1983, with sole objective of serving people in distress who are orphans & destitute..

Thiruvalluvar Tamil High School |
Thiruvalluvar Tamil High School was started in the year 1995 with 22 children with the aim of providing ethical based quality education to the children of Karaikal region especially for destitute children & children from families below poverty line. Their parents are working as porters, Sweepers, Scavengers, Maids, Coolies for their livelihood.

SIS Educational Sponsorship Program |
SIS has recently started a new program helping underprivileged children with their education, yoga classes and clothing. This project is directed by Swami Lalitananda (Mataji), a disciple of Sri Swami Satchidananda's who lives in Coimbatore.

Praythna Charitable Trust |
Praythna is run by Kanchana Kathiresan, she works with slum and street communities, offering children and mothers a quality and opportunity in life. The school is run Montessori method, there are presently around 60 children and 20 mothers.

On the 22nd January a team of volunteers from SIS, led by Nalanie Harilela Chellaram, travelled to Southern India in order to visit various projects and to undertake a few more of the “100 good deeds” pledged as a legacy and a tribute to Sri Swami Satchidananda.
